#1.Panasonic NB-G110P Flash Xpress Toaster Oven
This toaster oven model comes with an infrared cooking feature which will provide instant heating without needing to preheat it. When it comes to toaster ovens, the infrared setting is some kind of cutting edge especially when you’re not familiar with it. You can easily learn everything concerning infrared cooking but it all just goes down to its ability to cook flat dishes such as toast, bagels, pizza, fillets and steaks but it cannot handle 3 dimensional foods such as a whole chicken without using a rotisserie (which doesn’t come with the oven).
The Panasonic Flash Xpress currently has 701 customer reviews on Amazon Prime, most of them being 4.5 stars rating out of 5. A lot of customers like the toaster oven but out of the 701 customer reviews, 27 of them gave the unit a 1-star rating. Some of the reasons why it got such a rating was because you have to pay for the shipping when you need there are any warranty repairs (Amazon however offers a return for no expense within 30 days) and the heating feature dies pretty fast.
There were five hundred and nine 5-star rating review from customers who found it to be convenient, fast enough and don’t consider a convection toaster oven after using the toaster oven. The customers liked the oven’s preview lighting, instant heating and easy and fast cleaning. With a length of ten and a quarter, the toaster can easily fit in small spaces as it measures 9” in diameter which is great for reheating and cooking pizza.
#2.Breville BOV450XL Mini Smart Toaster Oven
This is another compact toaster oven under $150, with a more traditional 1800 watts, 4 quarts heating element that comes with the Breville (also referred to as “Element IQ Technology”). You’ll be able to adjust the power to be provided with a more reliable temperature which in turn will help you cook food more evenly.
Apart from the Element IQ, the toaster oven has eight preset settings, reheat, toast, bagel, bake, broil, roast, pizza and cookie, which automatically switch the power levels within the elements depending on what you’d like to use the appliance for. Moreover, the functions can be customized further to fit a specific recipe, personal taste and food volume.
Although this may seem a little much for a simple model, you want to avoid buying a toaster oven that performs the same as a traditional oven preparing dishes in a certain way, leaving the insides frozen and the outsides burnt. Most people would like to avoid cooking some type of foods using a toaster oven because they are known to provide uneven cooking but the Breville toaster oven seems to have tackled this challenge.
From the 425 customer reviews, 302 of them gave a 5-stars rating with only 21 of them being 1-star ratings. The people who gave the toaster oven a 1-star rating stated that there was an error message which tends to stop it from functioning, the shipping costs that come with warrant repairs and the thermostat going bad.
Of the 302 customer reviews that gave a 5-star rating, the customers liked the bagel and toast functions stating that it made the best toast each time. They also liked its ability to bake evenly, the small size and how easy it is to operate. There are customers who stated that they would have preferred it to be a little larger so that it offered more versatility but it still has to fit in small kitchen spaces. Despite its compact size, the toaster oven can still fit an 11-inch pizza (two more inches than what the Panasonic can fit) which is an important thing to put in consideration, depending on what you intend to use it for.
#3.MaxiMatic ERO-2008S Elite Cuisine 6-Slice Toaster Oven
The MaxiMatic Elite Cuisine Toaster Oven is not only affordable, but it’s also larger in size and it also doesn’t contain a number of the modern functions present in the Panasonic and Breville although it has a rotisserie. The MaxiMatic measures 16-inches (H) by 14-inches (L) by 14 inches (W) and can easily fit a 12-inch pizza. However, the toaster oven’s heating elements are 1500 watts, which is less powerful compared to other models.
Since the unit is large in size, it takes a little longer for it to heat up properly compared to some of the smaller models, which can prevent you from cooking food when you’re in a hurry or when you’re short of time to follow the required preparation time like your recipe suggests. The oven can easily fit 6 bread slices at once, which reduced the overall time you’ll normally need to cook toast for a large number of people.
The best setting on the unit is the rotisserie function, which can only be found in one other model on the list. Moreover, the product is a better replacement for a traditional oven compared to the other two because of its big size which can be very useful during warmer seasons, as the heat that comes from preheating a traditional oven can be quite undesirable.
There were 116 customer reviews on Amazon Prime, where 66 gave the unit 5-star ratings and only 14 gave 2-star ratings or less. One of the most common complains were due to the warranty repair costs, while some people found that it wasn’t easy to clean and others complained that the rotisserie motor would die after a couple months of light performance.
Most of the positive customer reviews were based on the price, size, usage, rotisserie, steaming setting and its ability to perform as a convection oven replacement.
#4.Hamilton Beach 31197 Countertop Oven with Rotisserie
This Countertop Oven from Hamilton Beach is next on the list. It’s a convection oven, making it a true substitute for a traditional oven and isn’t really considered to be a toaster oven. The unit is included on the list because a lot of people don’t actually use their toaster ovens only for toasting pastries. With measurements of 21-inches (H) x 18-inches (L) x 15.5-inches (W) is the biggest unit on the list and because of this it can easily bake pies perfectly and given its double racks, 2 twelve-inch pizzas at once.
Similar to the Hamilton Beach, the MaxiMatic also has a rotisserie although it $115 price tag is twice as expensive. At an extra cost, you’ll be getting a convection oven with a larger capacity. The double racks is a great addition as it enables you to cook more food at the same time, plus this was the only model on the list that is large enough to provide this function.
The product has 303 customer reviews where 173 customers gave it a 5-star rating and only 34 1-star ratings. The negative reviews were centered on the unit’s “flimsy construction” its “thin metal”, the convection fan malfunctioning, the restocking fee on returns and uneven cooking.
There were more than 200 4-star ratings and a lot of positive customer reviews who loved how fast it cooks, the convection cooking, ease of use, versatility and spacious interior.
#5.Cuisinart TOB-100 Compact Digital Toaster Oven Broiler
This digital toaster oven from Cuisinart happens to be the second affordable unit on the list as it can be found at $59.95 and also has a lot of features. Given its size, it’s not seen as a replacement for a regular oven but the perfect gadget for preparing pizza, toast, bagels and reheating leftovers. The toaster oven comes with 7 different settings, keep warm, toast, reheat, bake, sandwich, broil and bagel and it has really great performance. The most promising feature of the Cuisinart is its ability to cook your toast evenly without burning the edges.
Although it’s small in size (8-inches H x15-inches L x 13-inches W), it can handle a12-inch pizza but the height is a major concern to most buyers because they fear that food will get burnt easily, it can’t cook taller slices of bread like other models available in the market.
The Cuisinart Digital Toaster Oven had a total of 192 customer reviews where 128 of them gave it 4-star ratings and higher. Most buyers loved its ease of use, the easy-to-read display, fast heating and the exact digital control. 38 customers gave it a 2-star rating and lower because the unit would easily burn their food and it was pretty hot to touch after being used and they couldn’t tell when the toaster oven was on or off.
